Next week I’ll be resting, having released the trailer and first episode of Connecting the Dots with The Renaissance People.
But for now, I’m still filled with the buzzing energy of being in launch mode!
Today, I’m finishing my explanation of the categories I picked for my podcast to be listed under.
Education aligned with our lifelong learner identity.
Entrepreneurship is a reoccurring theme as many Renaissance People longing for flexibility and freedom to forge their own unique path.
And now onto the category that may seem strangest, upon first viewing…philosophy.

The Renaissance Mindset
When my friend K.O. Myers was helping me set up my podcast and pick these categories, this was the one that surprised him the most. And yet, I was almost tempted to make this the primary category.
The Renaissance Mindset I will be talking about in every podcast episode is truly a philosophy I believe in. And it’s one with an ever-expanding definition, evolving as I learn from my guests, hear from you and others in this community, and voraciously consume material from diverse fields.
The unique feature of the Renaissance Mindset, which I discuss in the trailer, is we learn for the sake of learning. The field of andragogy (not to be confused with “androgynous”) says that adult learners differ from children because, in order to maintain their interest, adults must see how they can immediately apply what they’ve learned.
But that’s not us. We maintain a child-like curiosity and will happily dive down a rabbit hole driven entirely because we’re inquisitive!
It doesn’t stop there.
We simultaneously have a deep belief in serendipity. We are convinced that, quite often, we will find a place to share what we learned in an impactful way. It may not be right away, but a time will arise. So in the meantime, we tuck it in the treasure trove of knowledge stored in our minds. And when we have the chance, we convey it across boundaries, translating its value for others.
On the podcast, we’ll take joy in sharing resources with one another. I jokingly say in episode 1 that I want the phrase “we’ll put that in the show notes” to become a drinking game of sort (no alcohol required, staying extra hydrated with water is just fine). And in the episode I’ll be releasing in the coming months, I’m delighted to say that this joyous celebration of sharing is EXACTLY what has happened! You will hear me giggling with glee as the resource list grows.
So be sure to have a drink handy as you listen, and check out the show notes for all sorts of resources.
